Hansens Flødeis has been working with ESG (environmental, social, and governance) for many years and has always had high ambitions in sustainability. To further strengthen their efforts, they wanted to gain a clear overview of their value chain and understand which ESG matters are most relevant to them.
The goal was to prioritize their resources where it is most relevant, create traceability and transparency in their supply chain, and continue to meet the increasing demands from legislation and customers.
The process
Together with Hansens Flødeis, we started with a value chain mapping and then conducted an impact materiality assessment focusing on the impact Hansens Is has or may have on E, S, and G matters. This process was carried out in close collaboration with the company’s management and was organized in a workshop format that made it practical and accessible. The workshop format ensured that the complex ESG factors were addressed in a way that was easy to understand and apply.
After the materiality analysis, I gathered all the new insights and results, as well as explored additional questions that had arisen during the workshop. This then led to the table of contents and the specific focus of the ESG report.
The outcomes
The materiality analysis provided Hansens Flødeis with valuable insights into which ESG factors are most relevant for their continued success. These insights have directly contributed to their ESG report as well as their long-term ESG strategy, helping the company to highlight forward-looking initiatives. It became particularly clear that significant attention should be directed backward toward the supply chain, where the main risks and opportunities lie.
The company’s work with relevant legislation, customer requirements, Code of Conduct, supplier dialogue, and certifications also became a central part of the process, enabling Hansens Flødeis to act proactively and meet their ambitious goals. With this structured approach, Hansens Flødeis is now even better equipped to maintain its position as a responsible and sustainable player in the market, addressing both current and future challenges with a strong foundation in their business.
